Learn How Proper Fridge Temperatures Make A Difference In The Freshness Of Your Food

Never worry about food spoiling now that you can pinpoint the perfect temperature for both your fridge and freezer

There is a reason why the fridge and freezer are set at a certain temperature, and that is because food such as various meats and vegetables can only be stored safely at specific temperatures for long periods of time. Even being a few degrees off can severely impact the health and safety of your family due to bacteria that may be present at that temperature.

Step by Step

How To: Ensure Your Fridge and Freezer Are At The Right Temperature

+Open the fridge door.

+Look at the temperature display.

+The fridge side of the appliance should be at 37 degrees Fahrenheit, or about 3 degrees Celsius.

+The freezer side of the appliance should be at 0 degrees Fahrenheit or about minus 17 degrees Celsius.

+On the fridge side, you want to make sure that food is in no danger of freezing so it is above 0 degrees Celsius but under 5 degrees Celsius. As food stored at over 5 degrees Celsius will begin to spoil.

+On the freezer side you need to ensure that food cannot defrost, as this is when bacteria will grow and spoil the food.

+On the temperature display, set the appropriate temperature for the fridge and the freezer.

+Close the door.

We keep many different types of food in the fridge and freezer, and not paying attention to the temperature of the appliance can spell disaster. Your food may go bad, or even worse, someone in your family may get sick. To avoid any unpleasant situations, make sure to check the temperature of your fridge and freezer regularly to ensure your food stays safe.
